Community and Connection: A May Recap Around Amarillo, Texas
May completely flew by in a beautiful blur. While I took an intentional, brief pause from the blog to live out the moments happening right in front of me, I am so excited to be back in June to share a recap of what turned out to be an incredible month.
Living and working in the Texas Panhandle means being deeply rooted in an incredible community. From massive local celebrations to personal milestones right here at home, May was full of connection.
Documenting the Fajita Festival
I was incredibly honored to be asked by the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to photograph the VIP experience at this year's Fajita Festival. If you’ve ever been, you know the Fajita Festival is a massive, vibrant celebration of culture, incredible food, and local business leadership in our city. Being trusted behind the lens to capture the energy, the networking, and the joy in that room was an absolute blast. I loved focusing on the raw interactions and connections that make our Amarillo business community so special.
A Personal Reset: Turning a Year Older & Celebrating Mother's Day
Right after the rush of local events, things slowed down for some much-needed personal celebrations. May is a big month in our household because it holds both Mother’s Day and my birthday, and also a few other family members' birthdays. Happy Birthday, Y’all!
Getting to celebrate another year around the sun, surrounded by Cody and my girls, was the perfect reminder of why I value the slow, quiet seasons of life so much. We ate good food, stepped away from our screens, and just enjoyed being together. As a mom, having that dedicated time to just be with my family is always the greatest gift I could ask for.
Giving the Ultimate Mother's Day Gift
Speaking of Mother's Day, I had the privilege of photographing a beautiful local mama who decided to do something truly intentional this year: she gifted herself a portrait session with her children.
So often, as moms, we are the ones behind the camera, taking photos of everyone else, or we ask for gifts that end up sitting in a closet. Watching this sweet mom get in the frame with her babies reminded me that documented memories are the ultimate heirloom.
Looking Ahead to Summer
Now that the girls have officially ended their school year and June is officially here, my calendar for summer sessions is filling up quickly. Whether you want to capture your family’s current rhythm or you're preparing to welcome a new baby, I would love to be your guide.
