I am a passionate lifestyle family photographer. I am extremely chill and laid-back, and I strive to capture raw, genuine emotions. If you're looking for stiff-posed images, I'm probably not the photographer for you. I will direct and guide your family for a seamless session full of laughs and playful moments. Don’t worry about the kids being "horrible with directions"—I have a knack for engaging children, whether they’re shy or energetic, to ensure they feel comfortable and have fun.

I started my professional career in 2016, shortly after graduating from Amarillo College with my Certificate in Photography.

It means you don’t have to perform. You are free to be messy, loud, emotional, and authentic. My goal is to capture the heart of your family exactly as you are right now.

Yes! At the end of 2024, I transitioned from Underwood Family Photography to Vanessa Underwood Photography. While the name is a bit more personal now, the "chill," authentic experience remains exactly the same. I'm still slowly updating some of my older materials, so thanks for bearing with me during the glow-up!

I offer three straightforward, all-inclusive collections so you know exactly what to expect. No hidden fees or "picking and choosing" favorites—you get the whole story:

• The Motherhood Collection ($1,200): A full-circle bundle including Maternity, Fresh 48, and Newborn sessions, plus a custom Signature Storybook.

• The Story Begins ($700): A full-service session including your entire high-resolution digital gallery and a complimentary Signature Storybook.

• The Simple Story ($300): A condensed 20–30 minute session including 25 high-resolution digital images.

It means your session fee covers my time, talent, and your high-resolution digital images. I’ve moved away from the watermark-and-proof model to give you the freedom to keep, print, and share every beautiful moment we capture.

As a mom, I know that printing photos often falls to the bottom of the "to-do" list. I want your memories to live on your coffee table, not just your phone. I handle the design and delivery of your Keepsake Storybook, so you have a tangible piece of your history to hold and share with your children.

Simple Story sessions are "Petite" sessions available year-round. They are 30 minutes, held at a location we choose together, and include 25 images. Mini-Sessions are quick (15 minutes) and offered only once or twice a year (like Christmas or Mother's Day) on specific dates at a pre-set location.

The studio is near downtown Amarillo, Texas, at 1004 SW 7th AVE. It is available for all types of sessions, though my personal favorite to photograph there is Studio Maternity!

I typically photograph families at field-like locations (parks) or urban settings (downtown Amarillo). I also offer in-home lifestyle sessions. Once you’re booked, we will discuss the best vibe for your family.

Sessions are by appointment only. My office hours for answering emails and phone calls are Tuesday–Thursday from 9 AM to 2 PM and Saturday from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.

I know how much work goes into coordinating schedules and outfits, so I do my best to respect your time! If the Amarillo weather doesn't cooperate for an outdoor shoot, we have the option to move your session to my indoor studio near downtown. We only reschedule for extreme "uncontrollables" (like a blizzard or a family illness). Otherwise, the show goes on!

You will receive your private online gallery for digital download within 2–4 weeks. If your collection includes a keepsake album or additional physical prints, those typically arrive 1–2 weeks after the design is finalized.

With my new all-inclusive digital delivery, an in-person viewing is no longer required! However, if you are local and would like help downloading your gallery or choosing which photos would look best as wall art in your home, I am more than happy to schedule an optional meeting at the studio to walk you through it.

Yes! While you receive the digital files, I highly encourage ordering prints through your gallery link. I work with top-tier professional labs that ensure your prints are color-accurate and rated to last 100 years.

Wear something that reflects who you are and makes you feel good. If you don't usually wear dresses, don't force yourself into one! Once you book, I provide a styling guide to help you coordinate without the stress.
