Welcome, Parents!
You’re booked now what? I am over joyed for this adventure of capturing your new baby. My goal is to prepare you as much as possible to ensure our session goes as smooth as possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR Fresh 48 Session?
Thank you for booking your Fresh 48 Session! Also known as Hospital photos or Birthing space photos. (Not to be confused with Birth Photos) Fresh 48 is a magical way to preserve the fleeting beauty of your newborn’s first 48 hours. Imagine capturing those precious details in the space where your baby was born – tiny fingers, soft skin, and the wonder in your eyes – in a way that will be photographed and cherished forever.
After you have given birth all you need to do is text me with this information, your location, and room number. Please keep in mind you don't need to text immediately after birth please give yourself some time to rest then you can send over a quick text. I will be there to photograph you within the next 48 hours of your birth. If it’s early enough I will be over that same day. If you deliver at night I will be over the next morning. Either way, I will respond when I will be there over text. Fresh 48 can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. I am here to serve you and your health and safety come first so if your baby needs to have a test run or the nurse needs to have vitals taken I will step out because you and your baby’s health are my number one priority. I try my best to be quick that way we don’t run into this situation but I understand nurses are on a schedule.
Day of session
When I arrive, I will introduce myself and visit with Mom and family. Then I will open shades or curtains to bring in the most light into the room. Typically I photograph the baby in the crib, bed, and parent’s arms. I will move things around for the best lighting and I will move things out of the way if I feel they’re a distraction. Most of my images are close up to capture all of the details and I will also include some pulled back to show the whole story. Like my newborn sessions, your baby will lead the session meaning they’re in control so when your baby is hungry they will eat and if they need changing we will change.
Your Baby
Your baby is perfect just the way they are, and I embrace the perfect imperfections. I suggest your baby wear a form-fitting onesie with no graphics or patterns. I will take off the onesie during the session to take a few photos with the baby in diapers to capture details like belly button and back hair. I also recommend you pick out some of your favorite swaddles so we can wrap your baby and blankets to lay your baby on.
length of session
If you're asking how long will this session take. Let me assure you I will not go over two hours, but usually stay between 45 minutes to an hour. It may seem like two hours is a lot of time but I am accounting for feeding and diaper changes or if the nurse needs to take vitals or run tests. I will constantly have my camera so I will be capturing every moment.
Parents
I know this day is all about your baby, but don't be alarmed that you will be in some images. As I mentioned above, the baby will lead the session, so if they want to be in your arms, I will have you hold your baby and photograph it in your arms. I bet you are wondering now what do I wear to the session. I recommend a neutral color with no graphics or designs. Lastly, This is an exhausting and exciting time of your life. I want you to relax and be yourself. I am here to capture this wonderful time of your life right now.
