Style Guide, Why is it IMPORTANT
Styling is crucial in our work because it holds the power to elevate the photographs we capture into timeless memories, stunning portraits, and art that truly tells a story.
Are you ready to create stunning and timeless images that truly capture the essence of your family? We understand that choosing the right outfits is a vital part of achieving those picture-perfect moments. And let's be honest, we all have different styles for different occasions.
In this guide, we are going to dive into the world of wardrobe selection, so you can confidently step in front of the camera knowing that your family's outfits will enhance their natural beauty and create a harmonious and cohesive look.
Now, let's get real for a moment. We all have our own unique everyday style, right? For me, it's all about comfort and ease. You'll most likely find me rocking my favorite yoga pants and a comfy t-shirt, with no makeup on and a messy ponytail to match.
However, when it comes time for a special event — whether it's a party or a fancy dinner — I know how to pull out all the stops. I will go above and beyond to put together a dress alongside comfortable shoes, carefully applied makeup, and messy curled hair. It's amazing how a little extra effort can make us feel like a million bucks, isn't it?
And that's precisely what we want for you and your family. We want you to feel confident, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish during your photography session.
Welcome to the updated Guide on choosing THE perfect outfits for YOUR photo session.
I will admit, as an experienced photographer, I am not a fashion expert. Honestly, I don't keep up with the latest fashion trends. So, when reading this guide, it's important to keep in mind that my perspective comes from behind the lens, not as a fashion designer. While I may not be able to provide expert fashion advice, I can offer valuable insights on how to capture beautiful moments through my unique photographic lens.
Color
First on the list is color. When it comes to choosing outfits for a photoshoot, the right color palette can make all the difference. It's important to consider complementary colors that work together harmoniously. Instead of matching every single outfit, opt for colors that complement each other. This rule is especially crucial when planning group photos, as coordinating colors cohesively enhances the overall aesthetic. One effective strategy is to start with neutral colors as a base and then add a pop of color to elevate your outfit.
Use these images as a guide for your upcoming photoshoot, but stay true to who you are and your style. Take inspiration from the color palette showcased in the image, but remember that you are not limited to these colors. This visual representation can help you envision the tone and mood you want to capture in your photographs. Let the colors guide your creativity and bring your vision to life.
When selecting colors for your photography session, it is best to opt for a combination of 2-3 neutral shades such as cream, sand, mocha, brown, white, and navy. These versatile hues create a timeless and elegant feel for your portraits. However, to add a touch of vibrancy and personality to the photos, you can incorporate 1-2 accent colors. The accent colors will bring a pop of excitement and interest to the overall composition, complementing the neutral tones perfectly.
Texture
Elevate Your Look with Textures for Unforgettable Photos
When getting ready for your upcoming photo session, take a moment to explore the rich diversity of textures at your disposal. Whether you're drawn to the graceful smoothness of velvet, the enduring allure of cotton, or the opulent touch of suede, there's a texture to complement every style. Embrace the refined charm of chiffon, or revel in the comforting embrace of corduroy. Each texture brings its own distinctive character and dimension to your ensemble, guaranteeing that your photos capture the individual essence of your personal style.
Layers
Layer, Layer, Layer!! This isn’t a fashion statement, this section is more of a comfort statement. This section is for outdoor sessions typically in the cooler months around September - March. In the Panhandle, the cooler months are hard to predict whether it will be warm or cold. So I recommend layering up at the beginning of sessions it might be chilly and once we start movement and posing you will warm up and that’s when we can gradually remove layers for your comfort.
LOGOs
Prints and Labels can make or break your session. I suggest avoiding Large Logo Prints as much as possible. The print can be distracting and take away the focus of an image. If you have any questions about the Logo on your outfit send me a quick photo and I will help guide you on weather it will be distracting or not.
